Pentec, Inc.'s actuaries wrote the book on pension plans. The title of the book is "The Defined Benefit Answer Book"published in 1999 by Panel Publishers. Our defined benefit practice is enveloped around the retirement planning needs of our clients. We develop plan designs that incorporate the needs of the workforce considered, using benefit adequacy, organizational budget, competition and participant perception as our guiding points. We develop programs that can be used as "catch up" retirement accumulators for those that started saving too late for a traditional profit sharing or 401(k) plan. Pentec, Inc. Pentec, Inc. designs Cash Balance plans and uses a combination of Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution Plans to control costs. Pentec, Inc.'s actuaries have served on committees with the American Society of Pension Actuaries (ASPA) in regards to the Standards of Practice for Our Profession. Michael E. Callahan is currently serving on the Board of Directors of ASPA and has served as its President. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Actuaries, and the Council of Presidents, an organization of the Presidents of all North American actuarial societies.
